Lakeway Texas is a suburb of Austin located 25 minutes to the west of downtown Austin. It was originally developed around resort, golf and lake activities from Houston developers. As Austin and the rest of Texas have continued to grow Lakeway has become an increasingly popular destination for weekenders, vacationers and permanent residents. This has resulted in Lakeway developing into one of the prime suburbs for residents living in the Austin metro area.

Local Lifestyle

Lakeway is a lake, golf and family community that has grown into a top Austin suburb. Scenic rolling hills and quick access to Lake Travis make the Lakeway area a popular choice for people relocating to the Austin area.  There are a number of 24-hour gated neighborhoods that provide the ultimate in privacy and amenities and even a private airport in the area.  The top-rated school district and a dominate football program highlight a school district that takes academics and sports seriously.

Dining & Shopping

Lakeway has a number of locally owned restaurants that have great ratings and reviews without requiring a trip into Austin.  Restaurants like SP Brazilian Steakhouse, Don Mario Mexican Restaurant, The Grove Wine Bar, Santa Catarina, Sakura Sushi, The Gramercy, Zest Indian Kitchen and Sundancer Grill are a big part of the restaurant scene in the area.

The Hill Country Galleria is one of Austin’s premium shopping centers located in Lakeway’s backyard with shops like Athleta, Lululemon, H&M, Dillard and Dick’s Sporting Goods.  Whole Foods Market along with a number of restaurants can be found in the Galleria and there is a Central Plaza that holds community events throughout the year.

Lakeway offer plenty of activities, especially for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Lake Travis offers a number of water and boating options for people looking to relax, get some sun or beat the heat on the lake.  Hamilton Pool and Pace Bend Park are also within easy driving distance for those looking to get outside the city and hike or swim.

Golf courses like The Hills, Spanish Oaks and Flintrock Falls give you the opportunity to test your skills on the links.  If relaxation is what you are looking for instead of torturing yourself you can skip the golf and head straight to Lakeway Resort & Spa for some rejuvenation.   

On a Friday night in the fall the Lake Travis football team, a perennial state power, hosts a number of games that provide an electric atmosphere.

There are plenty of additional options a short drive away in Austin including events like SXSW, ACL Festival, Formula 1 and University of Texas sporting events that are all popular activities.

Schools

Lakeway is a part of the Lake Travis Independent School District.  The elementary schools servicing Lakeway are Lakeway, Rough Hollow, Serene Hills, Lake Travis, Bee Cave and Lake Pointe, the middle school are Lake Travis, Hudson Bend and Bee Cave and the high school is Lake Travis.  These highly rated schools are a top draw for families and increase the popularity and desirability for the area.
