Northwest Hills is a neighborhood located 7 miles northwestern of downtown Austin. The neighborhood is sometimes referred to as Far West after its main street, Far West Boulevard, which stretches from Mopac on the east and goes deep into the residential homes on the west prior to reaching the Ladera Norte street, close to Capital of Texas Highway.
Northwest Hills offers convenience while allowing separation from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The rolling hills provide space, privacy and occasionally spectacular views for its residence. Couple the convenient location and highly rated schools and it is no surprise that this is a popular neighborhood for families.

A few of the best dining option are Chez-Zee American Bistro, ZuZu Handmade Mexican Food, 5280 Burger Bar, County Line BBQ and Biderman’s Deli there are also numerous restaurants within minutes of Northwest Hills from additional local options to national chains as well.
The north Austin Costco is 10 minutes north near the Arboretum and Gateway shopping centers. If Costco doesn’t have what you are looking for one of the five other grocery stores likely does. They include Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, HEB, Randall’s and Sprouts Farmers Market. These two shopping centers have a number of stores and other restaurants, too.
Northwest Hills has a handful of parks, trails and areas to enjoy the outdoors, the highlight being Bull Creek Park & Greenbelt. Aside from designated parks the hilly terrain of northwest Austin offers excellent walking and biking on the neighborhood streets as well.
Most of your entertainment activities are going to come outside the neighborhood. Two of the biggest destinations for things to do are roughly the same distance from Northwest Hills but in opposite directions. Downtown Austin is 15 minutes south and offers restaurants, night life, Lady Bird Lake as well as numerous other activities. The Domain is 15 minutes north and includes high end shopping along with the restaurants and night life but without the water activities.
Lake Austin is also only minutes from the neighborhood if you want to get on the water or a boat to escape the summer heat.
Northwest Hills is located in the Austin Independent School District. The elementary school servicing the neighborhood is Doss, the middle school is Murchison and the high school is Anderson. They are some of the higher rates schools in the Austin area which increases the desirability for families to live in the neighborhood.
